Broadcast & webcast video distribution platform to make Microsoft video library available for the media online.

As an industry leader and the world's largest software company, Microsoft is active in the area of corporate social responsibility. Whether it is complying with local laws and regulations, demonstrating ethical business standards, mitigating risks to the environment, or protecting human rights, Microsoft is committed to being a global leader in corporate social responsibility and is involved in a wide range of citizen projects in Europe.

The challenge

Microsoft has a rich video library showcasing many of its citizen projects. This content is potential newsworthy content for the media. Microsoft wanted to make its video library more widely available to the press, journalists and media, traditional and web.

The solution

Eyecone developed a video distribution platform online for Microsoft Europe. This dedicated a newsroom hosts and shares all Microsoft video material, from features stories with commentary to broadcast quality news packages ready for professional editing.

Eyecone provided consultancy services to design and set up the video library for the media. This involved web design, development, video compression services, metadata collection, hosting, statistics.

The result

The video library targets and is directly accessible to all EU and worldwide media, including traditional television broadcasters and web media.

The video newsroom also helps raise Microsoft Europe's visibility on the web.

The video library was launched in March 2009 and generated 300 downloads in 4 weeks of use.
